Therapy
NILD Educational Therapy ® was developed to treat underlying causes of learning difficulties rather than simply treating the symptoms. Students are trained to view themselves as competent, confident learners. The goal of this therapy® is to help students develop tools for independent learning in the classroom and in life. Students in NILD Educational Therapy ® receive two 40–minute intensive sessions of educational therapy per week. This can be either in individual or small group settings.
These sessions include a variety of techniques designed to address students’ specific areas of difficulty and to improve their overall ability to think, reason and process information.
Techniques emphasise basic skill areas such as:
- Reading
- Writing
- Spelling
- Mathematics
- Applying Reasoning Skills
Integrated Movement therapy is an approach to identify social and academic difficulties faced by children. When a child has failed to benefit from teaching strategies, we examine all aspects of the environment that could be contributing to the problem. We also look very closely at the neurological equipment of the child to see if there is a neurophysiological or neurodevelopmental basis to underlying academic and social struggles. By accurately identifying the causes of a problem rather than treating the symptoms, it is often possible to turn….
“I can’t” into “I can”.
Integrated Movement Therapy is a movement program that integrates:
- Reflexes
- Fine and gross motor skills
- Left and right hemispheres of the brain
- Short- and long-term memory
